AutoPrintEmail vs ItJustPrints - Desktop or Mobile Print Station?
Same team, two print stations. AutoPrintEmail runs on your computer and keeps email private. ItJustPrints runs on a phone or tablet with no computer at all. An honest guide to picking the right one.
ItJustPrints is our sister product, so this is not a takedown page. The two tools solve the same problem - emails and order slips that print themselves - with opposite architectures. One runs on a computer and keeps your email private. The other runs on a phone or tablet with no computer at all. Which one fits depends on your counter, not on marketing.
AutoPrintEmail
Desktop app for Windows, macOS and Linux. Connects to your inbox. Email never routes through our cloud.
ItJustPrints
iPhone, iPad and Android app. No computer needed - you forward email to a private print address in its cloud.
AutoPrintEmail: Your Inbox, Your Machine
The desktop app connects directly to Gmail, Outlook or any IMAP inbox and processes email on your own computer. Message content never routes through our servers, and OAuth tokens are encrypted on your device. Filtering rules, printing, everything happens locally.
The trade-off: a computer at the location has to stay on. A $150 mini PC in the back office is a common setup - it prints unattended around the clock with nobody touching it.
ItJustPrints: A Forwarding Address in the Cloud
ItJustPrints never touches your inbox. You get a private @itjustprints.app address and forward to it - a Gmail forwarding rule, or your Shopify/WooCommerce order notification email pointed straight at it. Its cloud receives the email, renders it, and the phone or tablet at the counter prints it over Wi-Fi.
The trade-off: the emails you forward do pass through its cloud (auto-deleted on a short retention window), and the app has to stay open on the device - on Android the screen can sleep, on iPad and iPhone the screen stays on, like any tablet POS.

Pick AutoPrintEmail If You:
- Have a computer at the location (or can add one)
- Handle sensitive email - patient docs, invoices, contracts - and want it processed on your own machine
- Want detailed rules: copies per sender, trays, duplex, office documents
- Prefer paying once ($199 lifetime) over monthly
Pick ItJustPrints If You:
- Have no computer at the counter and don't want one
- Run a storefront where a spare phone or tablet by the printer is the natural setup
- Print order notifications (Shopify, WooCommerce, delivery platforms) rather than sensitive documents
- Prefer store billing with a 14-day free trial, no card entered anywhere
Got a computer at the location? AutoPrintEmail is the private, pay-once option.

A note on speed: AutoPrintEmail polls your inbox, so a print typically starts within the polling interval. ItJustPrints receives forwarded email directly in its cloud and pushes to the device, so prints usually start within seconds. If seconds-vs-minutes matters at your counter, that's a real difference - weigh it against the privacy model above.
Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. Both are built by the same team. AutoPrintEmail is the desktop, privacy-first product; ItJustPrints is the mobile, cloud-based product for locations without a computer. This page exists because "which one do I need?" is a genuinely common question.
No - and that cuts both ways. ItJustPrints never connects to your inbox; you forward specific email to a private @itjustprints.app address, and only what you forward passes through its cloud (with a short auto-delete retention window). AutoPrintEmail connects to your inbox but processes everything on your own computer, so message content never routes through any cloud at all.
ItJustPrints runs a cloud pipeline (receiving, rendering, and pushing every print job) and is priced per printer location at $99/month or $999/year, billed through the App Store or Google Play with a 14-day free trial. AutoPrintEmail does the processing on your computer, so it's $14.99/month - or $199 once for a lifetime license, which is what most buyers pick.
Yes. Some businesses run AutoPrintEmail on the back-office computer for documents and invoices, and ItJustPrints on a counter tablet for order slips. They are independent products with separate billing.
The app has to stay open, like a tablet POS. On Android the screen can sleep while printing continues; on iPhone and iPad the screen stays on with the app in the foreground. If nobody can babysit a device at the location, a mini PC running AutoPrintEmail is the more robust unattended setup.
